About "OPEN RIGA"

The International Tournament “OPEN RIGA” is held annually for several consecutive years. To date, the tournament has gained popularity not only in Latvia, but also abroad. Sportsmen of club teams of Latvia and neighboring countries gather at “OPEN RIGA”.

The “OPEN RIGA” tournament is attended by athletes of all age categories and belts (Children, Cadets, Juniors, Adults and Veterans).

The purpose of the tournament is:

To develop and popularize Taekwon-do ITF among young people.

Tournament objectives:

  • Improve the level of sportsmanship of ITF Taekwon-do athletes.
  • Identify talented young athletes.
  • Form positive attitudes in the younger generation.
  • Develop Taekwon-Do ITF in Latvia.
  • Strengthen friendships between sports organizations.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle.

By tradition, the final phase of the tournament will be the awarding of the winners in individual competitions and the awarding of prize cups to the winners in the team event. The number of participants is increasing every year, the skill of athletes is constantly growing, and the interest in Taekwon-Do ITF from the younger generation is multiplying. And this means that the main tasks of the tournament are being successfully implemented – the development and popularization of Taekwon-do ITF.
